General Secretary Aspirant of the People's National Convention (PNC) Atik Mohammed has condemned recent comments by President John Dramani Mahama, targeted at minority NPP Running Mate Dr. Bawumia.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Atik Mohammed wondered why President John Mahama is worried about the perceptions of Ghanaians towards his administration.
He admonished President Mahama to stop making excuses for his government's failure to fix the economy.
Addressing a gathering during his "Changing Lives" tour, President John Mahama was disgusted by the utterances of some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against his duties.
According to him, the NPP - Dr. Bawumia in particular - does not qualify to describe him as an "incompetent" leader.
The President added that the only persons who have the unique license to use words as "incompetent" for him are Ex-Presidents Kufour and Rawlings and other persons who come near the Presidency.
But to Atik Mohammed, the President should be glad that Ghanaians have spared him the harshest words in addressing his leadership.
He advised the President to be thankful to Ghanaians for being generous enough to use kind words to describe his failures.
“I don’t see what difficulty there is in calling you who you really are. Incompetence is not an insult. When someone says you’re incompetent, it means you cannot execute your duties effectively…And I’m sure the President has admitted that he cannot do the work Ghanaians assigned to him.
“Ghanaians are tired of listening to excuses. What better description could be given to you than what Ghanaians, in their generosity, have decided to call incompetence when you’re model of governance is giving excuses every time. I’m sure Ghanaians could have used words that are even harsher and captured the situation even much more appropriately than incompetence. It’s out of generosity.”
To him, if he were President Mahama; he would afford a smile. |
