If Ghana Goes Into Flame EC Boss Will Be Held Responsible - Ursula Owusu

Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu Ekuful has admonished Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei to take cue from incidents that characterized the just-ended NDC Primaries.

According to her, reports that some Parliamentary aspirants couldn't find their names in the voters' register are a recipe for chaos.

She explained that if at the party level, the register which was cleaned and set for the NDC primaries could record no names, it's a wake-up call on the Electoral Commission (EC) to change the current register.

“That’s a recipe for chaos, violence and mayhem in this country. Coming events they say cast a long shadow. The NDC primaries have given us a clear example that the so-called clean-up that you’re taunting; it doesn’t work. So, we should learn our lessons from the party and do a new register…Because every vote counts.”

“If this country goes up in flames, you – Charlotte Kesson-Smith - will be held responsible. Do everything possible to maintain peace in this country.”

Hon. Ursula Owusu urged the EC Boss to learn lessons and not repeat the mistakes made in the NDC primaries.

“If through the clean-up process, such accusations can come up; why are we suggesting that for our national register? Can you imagine what will happen if you clean up the register that we all agree it’s not credible and some people go to the polling station on Election Day to find out their names are not in it? Do you think they will peacefully return home, come 2016?
