Beyond The Strike; What Next? Go Back To The Negotiation Table - Kabila Tells Striking Workers

A staunch Youth Activist of the Convention People's Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh has implored the leadership of the striking Organized Labour to 'jaw-jaw' with the Employment and Labour Relations Minister over the payment of their pensions.

Speaking on Peace FM's Morning show "Kokrokoo", James Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly called Kabila, has called on the Organized Labour to go to the negotiation table to resolve the conflict.

According to him, though the government has mismanaged the second tier pension contributions of public sector workers; the deadlock between the Sector Minister and Organized Labour will linger on until they both reach a consensus.

He however bemoaned the government's inability to administer the pension scheme and stressed it affects the livelihoods of the pensioners.

The Organized Labour has since embarked on strike action to register their displeasure with the government for failing to administer the second tier of their pension contributions effectively and are therefore calling on the authorities to rectify the problem.

This notwithstanding, Kabila believes the way forward is for the two entities - the Ministry and Organized Labour - to look beyond the strike action.

“Beyond the strike; what next? You’re strengthened. You’re strengthened because you want resolution to a certain challenge…So, I appeal to them to go back to the drawing table and resolve it as soon as possible.”
