President Mahama's Statement On Burkina Faso Was Timely - Fred Agbenyo

Fred Agbenyo, NDC Communicator, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama, ECOWAS Chairman for issuing a statement to Burkina Faso not to resort to illegal actions to subvert government.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Fred Agbenyo said that the statement was timely and called for.

Following political disarray in Burkina Faso, ECOWAS Chairman John Mahama warned that he will not recognize any African leader who will rise to power through unconstitutional means, thus by way of coup d’état.

According to him, the President issued the statement to intervene in the protest against Burkina's President Blaise Campaore to step down.

“This statement by the President, I think it’s so timely. It’s a very good statement that he has made...And I think we should rather encourage more of such statement.”

He further condemned the violence which was perpetuated by the masses.

To him, setting the country's Parliament ablaze was not the appropriate way to register their displeasure against the government.
