John Alexander Ackon, Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection says the strike action by the Organized Labour has been occasioned by the group’s mistrust in the government.
According to him, the Organized Labour has lost confidence and trust in the government and called for the agitation by the workers for immediate solutions to the stalemate.
He therefore suggested that the Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, should prove with actions his assurance that the pensions of the public sector workers are safe and secured.
Haruna Iddrisu, in a bid to allay the fears of the striking Organized Labour stated that the second tier pension contributions have been invested and yielded "very good returns".
"It has been invested in treasury bills," he added.
Reacting to the action by the public workers, Hon. Ackon was of the view that in order to create goodwill, there must be evidence of the claims by the Minster.
This he believed will help resolve the impasse. |
