Policy Analyst of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed has described as "robbery" the Mahama government's failure to account for the pension fund of public workers in the country.
Atik Mohammed stated emphatically that the government intends to "rob" the workers of their hard-earned pension monies.
According to him, the workers' pension serve as a source of sustenance when they retire and so, called on the workers to fight in their interest.
Addressing the issue, Atik Mohammed expressed doubt about the government to secure the monies invested in the pension fund since to him, the workers have been operating an occupational scheme account.
To him, the workers’ pension contributions should be put in their occupational scheme account to help remove the pension fund from under the control of the government.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Atik Mohammed believed the government is being dishonest with the pension contributions by the workers.
“…you have supervised and actually aided in the destruction of the investment of workers in the past”, he said, wondering how the government would suddenly turn around to promise “them that you [government] care for them. You’re so concerned about their well being.
“What’s happening is robbery...There’s no other explanation that you can use to describe what’s going on except to say that it’s an act of thievery by the government,” he asserted. |
