Aspiring
National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has
rubbished remarks by the National Women's Organizer of the governing
National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the steep depreciation of the
cedi is as a result of black magic or vodoo.
Anita De Soso, speaking on Adom FM
on Monday, February 10, attributed the free fall of the cedi to
activities by magicians or jujumen, who conjure up money as part of
their stock in trade.
According to her, their activities directly
affect the cedi, hence the cedi's inability to catch up with the rise
in the dollar rate.
Citing the operations by black marketers, who
she labeled as "saboteurs", Ms De Soso claimed the juju men use dwarfs
to steal the monies from banks and other financial institutions.
‘Do
we know where they get the money from? Do we know what they do with it?
These dwarfs, the black magic, is what has made the cedi lose value,’
she insisted.
But John Boadu debunked such notion and stated
emphatically that the cedi depreciation does not stem from any
activities of "dwarfs" but rather it's due to the poor governance by
President John Dramani Mahama.
According to him, Anita Desosoo
was only recently posted to NADMO so as to influence disaster-plagued
victims with relief items so they vote for the NDC.
He held that
President John Mahama and his government are mismanaging the economy and
that is why the value of the cedi is fast dwindling.
He further opined on Oman FM that it is gradually becoming a usual trend in the NDC to always deceive the citizenry.
Citing
some superstitious claims by the governing party members, John Boadu
believed Ms Anita De Soso, who was recently appointed a Deputy National
Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO),
was given the position to induce natural disaster victims with goods so
as to champion the course of the NDC.
