AMA Boss Has Been Razing Down Structures For Years Now...But Has The Flooding Stopped?

Atik Mohammed, Policy Analyst of the People's National Convention (PNC), has warned AMA Boss, Alfred Oko Vanderpuiye not to disrespect residents at Old Fadama (Sodom and Gomorrah).

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, Atik Mohammed noted that residents at Old Fadama are equally humans as every Ghanaian deserve to be treated in a humane manner.

Atik Mohammed, speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi, expressed worry over the Rambo style approach adopted by the AMA Boss and city authorities in demolishing structures at the vicinity.

According to him, the AMA Boss believes he will find lasting solutions to Accra flooding and so, "he does it with extreme cruelty."

I feel that in this country, some people are regarded as humans and some non-humans” but “the mere fact that they’re called humans entitles them to enjoy certain things like respect," he cautioned the City boss.

Since he started destroying people’s properties since he became Mayor till date, has it stopped the flooding? In some situations, it has become worse.”

Atik Mohammed therefore advised the Mayor and city authorities to find alternatives to better the livelihood of the residents because to him; "they deserve better. They’re just as Ghanaians as everybody else in this country. If there’s such an arrangement to do, we need to be careful. Let’s give them such respect as human beings.”
