It Is An Insult To Claim A Political Party Is Behind S & G Demo - Kweku Baako

Kweku Baako Jnr., Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, says it is an affront for any individual to claim the demonstration by settlers at Old Fadama popularly known as "Sodom and Gomorrah" was politicaly motivated and supported by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Making his submissions on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Mr. Baako found the claims ridiculous and wondered why anybody would read political meanings into the "Sodom and Gomorrah" brouhaha.

Following the demolition exercise at Old Fadama which resulted in a massive protest at the State House, Deputy Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuiye accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for masterminding the demonstration.

The Deputy Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodio alleged on Asempa FM that the opposition party incited the angry mob.

I want to tell those who are seeking to take political advantage of this that they won’t succeed…if there is a situation like this on hand, why would you go there and distribute your party T-Shirts, flags and placards to them to demonstrate…you won’t succeed…,” he stated.

The senior Journalist questioned the logic in such claims, asking; "Is that not an insult to those who were on the streets? Is that not an insult? Is that not an attempt, deliberate attempt to ignore that in reality; there was something that sparked the thing? They don’t even have any evidence. The evidence they put out is ridiculous.

He stressed that the allegations are immaterial.

The point being made was that it was like consciously somebody packaged those things, (went) held meetings with the people; instigated them onto the streets and then gave them those things. Look, no serious political party will even do that. Why would you want to show your hand in that way?
