My Goodness, What Is Becoming Of This Country? What Standards Are We Setting... - Kwamena Duncan

Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwamena Duncan has added his voice to calls on President John Dramani Mahama to sanction Accra Mayor, Alfred Oko Vanderpuiye.

According to Kwamena Duncan, the Mayor, Oko Vanderpuiye should either step down or find an exit through the front door of his office.

He called on President John Mahama to dismiss Mr. Oko Vanderpuiye if he doesn't step down.

Kwamena Duncan made this solemn request while commenting on the aftermath of the gas explosion that occurred at the GOIL fuel station at Circle last Wednesday.

He also lambasted President Mahama for paying lip service to Ghanaians and further making numerous promises that have failed to see the light of the day.

He further alluded to some promises the President made years ago regarding the interventions that his government would undertake to curb flooding in the capital city.

The NPP Regional Secretary wondered why the President cannot solve the drainage challenges in the country after years of flooding in Accra.

In spite of all the trappings of office, the sweeping powers conferred on the President that indeed in exercising his authority, virtually no obstruction…I am telling you we’re condemning ourselves to a perpetual failure. At a point in time, this will become a failed State.

Are we now getting Presidents who will just make rhetoric statements; no basis for that. We will not hold them to their word? My goodness, what is becoming of this country? What standards are we setting…Oko should step down or the President should sack him," Kwamena Duncan said on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" on Wednesday.
