GMA Strike Is "Crude And Wrong"...I'm Appalled At Their Leadership's Behaviour - Kofi Adams

Kofi Adams, National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has described the nationwide strike action by medical doctors in the public sector as "crude and bad."

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kofi Adams expressed disappointment in the leadership of the Ghana Medical Association for embarking on that industrial action.

He questioned the doctors' decision to go on strike even when they were at the negotiation table with government over their conditions of service.

He wondered why the doctors would choose such a course of action at the detriment of Ghanaians when government is making every effort to improve their conditions of service.

If you employ such tools, it is crude. It is wrong. It is absolutely bad especially when the leaders you’re negotiating with have given clear indication that your conditions of service are important but it’s something we can look at. So I am appalled about the behaviour of the leadership of Ghana Medical Association.”

Touching on the concerns and demands of nurses and psychiatric practitioners in the country for government to pay up their 11-month arrears, Kofi Adams also called on those in charge to release the workers' salaries to them.

He explained that the nurses and those in the psychiatric hospitals have executed their duties effectively and deserve their remuneration.
