Ghana's Democracy Under Attack; Mahama Has Failed As Commander-in-Chief - Kwamena Duncan

Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwamena Duncan has laid blame at the doorsteps of the Mahama-led NDC government for the raid that occurred at the NPP Headquarters a couple of days ago.

On Monday, November 22, 2015, some armed personnel trooped into the compound of the NPP headquarters and ransacked the offices, scattering documents all over the place.

Following the incident, some suspects were arrested by the Police to aid in investigations.

Speaking in relation to the NPP raid on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Kwamena Duncan strongly attributed the incident to President John Mahama, stressing that he will be forever be disgraced.

According to him, it is the President's fault to have some armed personnel clad in military uniforms and driving around in military vehicles to the party's headquarters.

To Kwamena Duncan, the country's "democracy is under attack" because President Mahama has failed as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

He wondered how and where the perpetrators could laid their hands on military gear and vehicles, particularly when it is a crime against society for civilians to possess military accoutrements.

“Ghana's Democracy is under attack…It’s a disgrace that will follow President Mahama’s NDC forever. Is he not the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces?" he quizzed.

The NPP Central Regional Secretary further believed the Mahama administration orchestrated the raid in order to cow the opposition into submission.

One of the major factors of these things is that the governing party is using the security agencies to harass and intimidate opposition party. I can’t understand it today or tomorrow. Even if those who went to the headquarters were wearing camouflaged military uniforms, what about the military vehicles? These are signs of a failing President. These are signs of a failing government.
