NDC Has Exposed Prez Mahama To Public Ridicule - Ablekuma West MP

NPP Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful says the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has exposed President John Dramani Mahama to public ridicule.

According to her, the leadership of the NDC has disgraced the President by allowing people to cast their votes for him during the just-ended Primaries.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo', Hon. Ursula Owusu noted that the NDC should have gone by their constitutional provision for public acclamation for President Mahama when he went unopposed.

In such fashion, the President would not have recorded some "No votes" for him in the Primaries.

Prior to the NDC Primaries on Saturday, November 21, the party ensured that President Mahama goes unopposed and hoped for him to record a 100 percent of valid votes cast.

He however failed to poll 100 percent of the votes.

President John Mahama polled 1,199, 118 "Yes" votes representing 95.10 percent from the party members in the Presidential primaries while 61, 386 out of 1, 286, 728 voted "No" for him.

Hon. Ursula Owusu explained that the "No" votes for President Mahama reveal that he may have lost touch with his own party members and so, may not get the nod from Ghanaians in the 2016 general elections.

“They have disgraced their Presidential candidate. They’ve exposed him to ridicule because I can sit here and say that your own party didn’t vote for him. Why should somebody like me who stays at Dansoman or East Legon or Akyem Oda or Berekum vote for him? Even his constituents didn’t vote for him in his own hometown; Bole Bamboi.”
