Atik Mohammed, Policy Analyst of the People's National Convention, says he is extremely frustrated by the frequent blackouts in the country and has called for an intensive demonstration to be held nationwide.
Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on "Kokrokoo" onPeace FM, Atik Mohammed bemoaned the erratic power supply that has since 2012 characterized President Mahama's administration, claiming that even "dead men" can now feel the impact of the darkness Ghanaians are experiencing.
According to him, the perpetual power cuts, "dum sor dum sor" as referred to in local parlance; has so worsened that morgues in various hospitals across the country have been widely affected.
Due to the energy crises, families of deceased persons will have to bear huge cost to secure the remains of their 'dear one' in the morgue.
“Dead men are even feeling the effects of ‘Dum sor, Dum sor’ because when the deceased person is put in the morgue, it means he has to pay the cost or price of dum sor, dum sor. Because the deceased’s family whether they like it or not; if they want to keep the body in good shape before they bury the deceased, they have to pay” or rather send the deceased to a proper morgue, he stated.
He further called on Ghanaians not to relent in their quest to embark on series of demonstration to register their displeasure with the Mahama administration.
He insisted that the demonstrations should be "continuous. It has to be intensive" in order to show the government their indignation with the current happenings in the energy sector.
Atik Mohammed also warned the ruling National Democratic Congress, under the leadership of President John Mahama, to stop attributing their incompetency to the erstwhile Kufour government since Ghanaians voted for them to fix the economy.
“I am exceedingly frustrated…I don’t give a hoot what NPP did or did not do. It’s not the NPP that’s in power now. It’s the NDC; while you were coming, you said ‘I care for; People Matter, You Matter’...Does it mean that they deceived Ghanaians into voting for them knowing very well that they can’t deliver?” the PNC Policy Analyst said. |
