#Dumsormuststop Vigil: It's A Legitimate, Worthy Cause...All Celebs Should Support It - Atik Mohammed

Atik Mohammed, Policy Analyst of the Peoples' National Convention (PNC), has urged actors in the creative industry to join the #Dumsormuststop vigil to campaign against the failure of the Mahama administration to resolve the power cuts in the nation.

Contributing to Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Atik Mohammed commended Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson and her colleagues who have taken up the issue and will be embarking on street protest against the Government of Ghana.

According to him, the #Dumsormuststop vigil which will be held this Saturday May 16, 2015 by celebrities from the music and movie industry and Ghanaians is a legitimate cause.

To him, they should be given the necessary encouragement since the current power crises affect them directly.

Atik Mohammed recounted that due to the 'dumsor' which has become a household name for the power crises in the economy, the celebrities have been incurring huge operational costs and for that matter, they feel downtrodden by the government.

“These are things that affect them personally and they have the right to express such opinions…But as if to say that if you’re a politician, you’re more Ghanaian than those who are not politicians. As a matter of fact, it’s the money by those people who are not in politics or aren’t politicians that we’re using to rule the nation; their taxes, their contributions, their incomes…So, they have the right as much as politicians to talk about issues of governance.

“I would have expected that everybody, if you are into the creative arts, you should support this cause. It’s a genuine, legitimate and worthy cause," he concluded.
