It's Premature For Afoko & Agyepong To Step Aside - Former NPP Presidential Aspirant

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Mampong, Francis Addai Nimo says it is premature for any member of the NPP to call for the resignation of the party's National Chairman and General Secretary.

According to him, the NPP can win the favour of the Ghanaian electorates, come 2016, when the party unites and puts its differences aside.

Commenting on the acid attack that resulted in the death of the party's U/P East Regional Chairman Adams Mahama, Francis Addai Nimo was of a strong view that suspending the two leaders or calling on Kwabena Agyepong, General Secretary and Paul Afoko, National Chairman to step aside is not the best option for the NPP at the moment.

It may be premature to suggest or to request any elected officer to say step aside, go on suspension or impeachment process. It may be premature to engage in that. Let us all cool down. Now we can assume that we don’t know the way forward. And that is also a good policy. We don’t know the way forward, then out of blue the way forward comes up. And it becomes a surprise, then the people of Ghana will now know that [oh] this party going through these challenges, suddenly has found us the cure to the challenges."

He however was very optimistic that the NPP will coil back and strengthen itself against all odds to make sure that the party's Flagbearer Nana Addo clinches victory, come 2016.

Our house can be put together. It can be well-organized. We are all prepared to work out diligently to see the success of the party in 2016 with Nana Akufo-Addo becoming the President of the Republic of Ghana, effective 7th January 2017…"
