Hundreds of innocent lives got drowned in floods. Hundreds of innocent lives were washed away in floods. Hundreds of innocent lives were grisly burned in gas explosion.
Black Wednesday night, Ghanaians did not hear good news. Families lost relatives. Relatives lost families.
What was their crime? What did they do wrong? And even if they had hurt some gods somewhere, should this be the way innocent Ghanaians and children should shed their blood?
Yes, the gods must be wicked!
What did that young child who knew nothing do to hurt the gods? Did that baby join the famous "Dumsormuststop" vigil?
The gods must indeed be wicked!
Friday morning and I cannot help but cry out loud as I continue to bow my head in shame.
Wednesday, June 3, 2015 disaster at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle will go down memory lane as Ghana's darkest day of doom.
Reading a shocking press statement written by Manasseh Azure on Peacefmonline.com; I ask myself; is this ignorance?
The statement titled "Yvonne Nelson's Dumsor Vigil Caused Flood and Fire Disaster - Ga Traditional Council" read that the Ga Traditional Council has blamed the vigil for the recent flood and fire disaster that claimed over 150 lives in the capital city.
The GOIL fuel station caught fire after an alleged fuel leakage and burned people to death.
Such disheartening moment that I believe lots of Ghanaians will never pray to bring back to memory. And the Ga Traditional Council says what?
To say the vigil caused the gas explosion and the numerous deaths is the most absurd defense to put up. Please allow me to ask this simple question; what does the Council really seek to achieve by putting out such information?
In this 21st Century, we still blame the gods for everything even when we know they have nothing to do with the incident.
I believe it's the gods that are constructing the Circle interchange. I also believe it's the same gods who have blocked the drains in Accra. I believe it's the gods that caused the rains to fall.
I believe it's the gods that caused the floods. I believe it's the gods that convinced the hundreds to seek shelter at the GOIL fuel station. I believe it's the gods that told the babies to group themselves together with their mothers at the fuel station.
I believe it's the gods that leaked the fuel. I believe it's the gods that sparked the fire. I believe it's the gods that blew up the fuel tanker.
Are the gods then not so wicked; to say the least?
Please, is Yvonne Nelson still alive? Yes, she is! Is DKB still alive? Absolutely Yes!! Is Van Vicker alive? Oh why not!!!
It would have made a lot of sense if these people - organizers of the vigil - were the first to be sacrificed. It would have been much comprehensible if the organizers were burned in the GOIL gas explosion.
But fortunately and to the glory of God, they are living and I pray they live longer to organize more vigils to put the government on its toes.
In the wake of the June 3 disaster, I heard a very depressing story about a rice seller who died in the explosion.
Obviously, she never made millions out of her rice selling business but the vigil organizers - celebrities - earn millions.
What kind of a god will take the life of rice seller who makes a meager sum of money to fend for her family while there are people making millions daily and monthly?
These gods must be wicked!
In the Western world, there are disasters like tornado, tsunami and earthquakes that kill thousands of people but I don't remember the last time I read that the people killed was the handiwork of the gods. Should I assume there are no gods in the Western world?
I would like to tell anyone who thinks the death toll which was recorded between June 3 and June 4, 2015 was the work of the gods that their gods are very wicked, inconsiderate and lack affection for the people they protect.
I wish the Traditional Council had kept their reasons to themselves. If you can't resuscitate the souls of the deceased; don't offend the sensibilities of the families.
I serve the Almighty God whose supremacy cannot be challenged. I serve the Maker of the heavens and the earth but I don't blame Him for the woes in my life.
Do you want to know why? It's because I know my God loves me unconditionally.
If we can have gods who will claim hundreds of innocent lives simultaneously, then I don't know why anybody should continue to serve them.
How do you replace the lost lives?
I am a concerned citizen.
