NDC Communicator Bernard Anim Piesie has questioned the logic of the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in trying to resolve the internal strife in his party.
Weeks ago, the NPP Upper East Regional Chairman was attacked with acid resulting in his death.
Following the demise of the late Adams Mahama, his embittered supporters clashed with some supporters of the party's National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong.
The irate supporters accused the two leaders of masterminding the attack.
This therefore called for the intervention of Nana Addo and former President John Agyekum Kufour who calmed tempers down and advised the party to form a unifying body.
Though the party members have lauded Nana Addo and Ex-President Kufour for intervening, Bernard Anim Piesie believes there could have been a better approach to resolving the issue.
To him, the NPP leadership should have addressed the party's internal conflicts a long time ago.
Making his submissions on Kokrokoo on Peace FM, Mr. Anim Piesie wondered why Nana Addo held his silence when matters reached its boiling point within the NPP.
According to him, the NPP's flagbearer and leadership of the NPP should have put the right structures in place long before things begun to escalate.
“It shouldn’t have been done now. Why did they wait for it to pile up till it’s escalated to this level and even at the demise of a party stalwart?…My advice to the our colleagues in the NPP is that if they cannot help us improve the lot of Ghanaians, if they can’t help us steer the affairs of Ghana well…they shouldn’t disgrace us.”
He also questioned why Nana Addo failed to invite the two leaders; Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong, to his press conference.
“At what point did Nana Akufo Addo realize that what they were doing was divisive? He waited till President Kufour, Kojo Mpianim, Kwabena Agyepong and Mr. Afoko were criminalized before he intervened," he stated. |
