Police assures Ghanaians of a safe festive season

The Police Service has implored all Ghanaians to cooperate with the service as it unveils its security strategies this Christmas season.

The Police have identified that during the Yuletide; several Ghanaians tend to over-indulge in numerous threatening activities and therefore have indicated plans to dispatch mobile patrol teams in vicinities across the country in order to ensure the safety of the citizens.

Over the previous years and now, the police have been very keen on the activities of criminals; but according to the Commander of Armoured Squad of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Supt. Hamza Yakubu, this year, security arrangements will have the patrol teams stationed at vantage points in communities and on the highways to safeguard people and also record a minimal number of accidents on the roads.

Explaining the security measures on Joy FM today, Chief Supt. Hamza Yakubu stated that the mobile patrol teams will be visible throughout the country.

Some personnel will also be stationed at vantage points to control the traffic situation in the country and also ensure nobody speeds off above limits.

He also disclosed that over 1000 patrol vehicles have been delivered to the Police Service in order to help the police personnel secure the lives of Ghanaians.

He also called on people to collaborate with the police and dial the toll free lines, 191 and 18559, to report any suspicious activities.

The lines are active 24 hours each day.
