A
Gas tanker reported travelling from the Greater Accra Region to Kumasi
in the Ashanti Region capsized on its way, causing serious degrees of
injuries to the residents.
The accident which occurred in the
early hours of Wednesday at Kwahu, in the Ashanti Region, saw several
houses, livestock and other assets belonging to the residents in flames
when the gas sparked fire.
According to Peace FM correspondent,
Michael Akrofie, the residents were asleep when suddenly the gas tank
fell on its side and immediately diffused the gas through the locality.
The
driver who was driving on top speed did not take note of a speed ramp
ahead; when he saw it and decided to reduce the speed, it was too late.
Unfortunately,
the gas came into contact with fire set by residents and that caused 15
houses to get burnt, serious burns to residents and the death of a
3-year old child.
