15 Houses Burnt As Gas Tanker Capsizes

A Gas tanker reported travelling from the Greater Accra Region to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region capsized on its way, causing serious degrees of injuries to the residents.

The accident which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at Kwahu, in the Ashanti Region, saw several houses, livestock and other assets belonging to the residents in flames when the gas sparked fire.

According to Peace FM correspondent, Michael Akrofie, the residents were asleep when suddenly the gas tank fell on its side and immediately diffused the gas through the locality.

The driver who was driving on top speed did not take note of a speed ramp ahead; when he saw it and decided to reduce the speed, it was too late.

Unfortunately, the gas came into contact with fire set by residents and that caused 15 houses to get burnt, serious burns to residents and the death of a 3-year old child.

Meanwhile, the victims have been rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and are receiving medical attention.
