All
is set for the opposition New Patriotic Party to hold its Regional
elections across the country this Saturday, January 25, 2013; the
Director of Elections of the party has disclosed.
Martin Agyei
Mensah, Director of the NPP Elections, says the party is ready to
successful go through the next phase of electing candidates who are
poised to head various offices and positions at the Regional level. He
revealed, in an interview on Oman FM, that his outfit has acquired all the logistics that will enhance the progress of the elections, come Saturday.
Also,
"accreditations for the media, security and observers are all in place.
..So, everything has been sorted out. What is left is for the party
faithfuls to mobilize themselves to travel so that they can all make it
safely to cast their votes on Saturday," he stated.
This year's elections will see 267 candidates contesting positions in the party and out of the number, 50 aspirants are women.
Expounding
further, Mr. Agyei Mensah also debunked claims that the party has split
into parts, particularly Akufo Addo (Akyem) and Alan Kyeremateng
(Asante) factions.
According to him, what is going on in the party is simply party faithfuls playing according to the game of the contest.
To
him, the fact that people have vouched for the favourite candidates
does not mean the party is divided among itself but it only reveals the
"spirit of the game."
He therefore believed opponents of the
party have masterminded a plot to don the NPP with the attire of
factionalism in order to discredit them.
