Gov’t Must Resolve TUC Row Quickly Before It Results In A Nationwide Strike

Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Hon. Seth Acheampong says government should resolve its conflict with the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the best possible manner without any side feeling aggrieved.

Addressing the TUC's demands on government during a panel discussion programme on U TV, Hon. Seth Acheampong called on the Mahama government to adopt measures to amicably iron out its differences with TUC.

The TUC has implored government to initiate policies to pay realistic living wages to workers in the nation.

Hon. Seth Acheampong told host Tweneboah Koduah on U TV's morning show " Adekye Nsroma" that in the face of the current situation crippling the economy; it would be prudent if the government does not take a hard stance to worsen matters.

He explained that workers are at a disadvantage as a result of the high petroleum prices, huge taxes on commodities, the incessant energy crises amidst other challenges facing the economy.

Due to the cost incurred by workers, Hon. Seth Acheampong pleaded with "the government to adopt any positive method to resolve the issue. The government should solve it because if workers embark on strike, it won’t augur well for us in the country. The government should be firm and hold talks with them.”
