Former
Member of Parliament for Asokwa Constituency, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has
slammed the General Secretary of the ruling party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia
for advocating the reinstatement of the Ahafo Ano South District Chief
Executive.
Maxwell Kofi Jumah took a swipe at Mr. Asiedu Nketia, popularly called General Mosquito, during an interview with Peacefmonline.com.
He
expressed his indignation over the plea by Mr. Asiedu Nketia that the
Ahafo Ano South DCE, Gabriel Barima should be allowed to return to
office after his public display of disrespect to the people of the
district.
According to him, the DCE acts as an ambassador to the
President in his district and therefore should note that his actions and
inactions affect the governance system of the President.
In view
of this, his misdemeanor was an affront to the image of Mahama
administration and any act of restoring him would defy the President's
order.
Mr. Kofi Jumah therefore wondered why General Mosquito is
vehemently fronting the comeback of the DCE and therefore asked his
specific interest in the case.
He posited that the calls by
General Mosquito reveal the strength of Mahama administration and
further questioned the authority of the NDC General Secretary in the
governance of the country.
“Why would you trivialize the
Presidential order? Why would the General Secretary of a party
trivialize the Presidential order as if it was a sub-division by a
President that didn’t have a lot of thinking to it? So, to me, it
undermines the authority of the President.”
The NDC General
Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, speaking on behalf of the National
Executive Council of the party stressed the need for the restoration of
the DCE because to him, the DCE's only reacted to provocations from the
people of the district.
But to Mr. Kofi Jumah, “General Mosquito
or NEC, if that is the case, showed gross disrespect to office of the
President and it shows that the President is wobbling. And that he’s not
strong. And that he doesn’t know what he’s doing and that he needs the
General Mosquitoes of his party to direct him to the right thing.”
