BOG Governor's Exit Is A Good Riddance To Ghanaians - Kwamena Duncan

Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwamena Duncan says the Governor of the Bank of Ghana Kofi Wampah's leave of office is a good riddance to Ghanaians.

Dr. Wampah has reportedly told President John Dramani Mahama of his intention to leave office by the end of March.

His rationale for stepping down, according to Reuters, is to enable his successor to resume office before the November 7 general elections.

Addressing the issue on 'kokrokoo' on Peace FM, Kwamena Duncan told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the BOG Boss' decision comes on the heels of the financial challenges confronting Ghanaians.

He raised concerns over the depreciation of Ghana's currency as against the US Dollar and other currencies.

According to him, the BOG Governor failed to bring confidence in the Ghana's cedi and that his departure will apparently bring relief to Ghanaians.

Kwamena Duncan however believed Dr. Wampah's successor will have nothing better to offer Ghanaians as his predecessor did in his capacity as the Governor.

“It’s a good riddance but again whoever succeeds him, it will not bring anything better in the lives of the Ghanaian people,"he stressed.
