What's The Fuss About NPP Hiring SA Ex-Policemen To Train Its Members? - Awuku Asks

The New Patriotic Party has disclosed that it is responsible for the entry of the three retired South African Police Officers into the country.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, the National Youth Organizer of the NPP Sammy Awuku revealed that the NPP hired the services of the South African nationals to organize security trainings for the party functionaries.

According to him, the security of the NPP flagbearer Nana Addo and his Running Mate Dr. Bawumia as well as executives of the party is paramount to the party.

Therefore, the NPP brought the three retired Police Officers to the country to help train the bodyguards of the party's leadership and members to safeguard themselves against any security threats.

He further noted that the place where the South Africans were lodging - El-Capitano Hotel - is “not a secret place. It’s not a hideout. It is used by Ghana Association of Private Security to train their people."

To him, the NPP has done nothing wrong by employing the services of these retired SA Police Officers, saying "it’s not like we conveyed the people to the forest with no linkage to any registered security company. And what were they doing? Then, we sit here and paint the picture like a caricature. And again, they have boarding facilities, where people will sleep, training facility and classrooms. So, is this a secret?

He added that unlike the government housing potential terrorists in the nation, the NPP only made a request to protect their party faithfuls.

Three retired South African Police Officers were arrested at Agona Duakwa in the Central Region for allegedly engaging in activities that threaten the nation’s security.

The three – Major Ahmed Shaik (retd), 54; Warrant Officer Denver Dwahye, 33, and Captain Mlungiseli Jokani, 45 – were arrested at the EL-Capitano Hotel where they were lodging since arriving in the country early this month.

They were reportedly training some young people in various security drills, including unarmed combat, weapon handling, VIP protection techniques and rapid response manoeuvres.
