Ghana @ 59: Nana Addo Will Never Commit Such Monumental Errors - Nana Boakye

Journalist packed into Tipper Truck to cover Ghana @ 59

NPP Parliamentary candidate for Manhyia North, Nana Boakye has expressed misgivings about the "inhumane" treatment that was meted out to journalists during the 59th Independence Anniversary of Ghana.

Journalists accredited to cover the event were packed like "sardine" into a Tipper truck to execute their official duties for their respective stations.

The press was left with no option than to take up the challenge and hop into the truck with the help of ladder after they were not allowed by security arrangements to get close to some activities at the parade ground.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Nana Boakye was disgusted that President John Dramani Mahama allowed the journalists to undergo such treatment.

He was extremely worried that there could have been fatalities if the driver of the tipper-truck had tripped and pressed a release-button.

To Nana Boakye, the journalists deserved better treatment for their services on the parade ground.

He also lambasted the Mahama administration for making mistakes in the event brochure that was used for the 59th Independence anniversary.

There were typo and grammatical errors like the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, being described in the brochure as the President of the Republic of Ghana in addition to other grammar and spelling errors.

Nana Boakye, a former NPP Parliamentary aspirant for the Manhyia North primaries, believed the mistakes have made Ghana a laughing stock and so questioned the people in charge.

He further raised eyebrows over the handlers of the President stressing that their work is poor.

He however heaved a sigh of relief as he was optimistic the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will take over the Presidency and get rid of such mistakes.

It is shocking. It has taken the shine away from the 59th Independence. But I thanked God that the 60th anniversary of Ghana, it will be presided by Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo. We won’t see these mistakes again. When President Mahama comes as former Head of State to the 60th Independence anniversary which will be presided by Nana Addo, he will realize that these mistakes don’t exist.
