I Understand Nii Noi's Sentiment, But...I Blame NPP Leadership - Baako

Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has advised Parliamentary hopeful, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey to reconsider his decision to independently contest the seat of the Klottey Korle constituency.

Nii Noi Nortey has disclosed that he will contest the seat as an independent candidate following his defeat in the party's parliamentary elections held last month.

The Parliamentary hopeful believes he was unfairly treated by the party leadership, hence his decision to run solo.

But to the Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Nii Noi Nortey's decision is not the right one though he is "entitled to make a choice".

“He’s entitled to make a choice and he’s chosen that option to go independent. I understand him but I disagree. I understand him in the sense of where his sentiments are coming from. There is an element of hurt there, of sense of betrayal and so forth, so I understand him. But the option that he’s chosen, I think it’s not the right one.”

Mr. Baako however held the New Patriotic Party leadership responsible for the decision taken by Nii Noi Nortey, saying that he dreaded "this situation but of course, since the party thought they are doing the right thing it is up to them. I just hope that Nii Noi will get a change of mind. I disagree with him but I will not condemn him, I think I appreciate where he is coming from sentimentally."

“I blame the party too. I blame the party; especially the party leadership," he stated emphatically on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo'.
The defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant in the Klottey Korle constituency, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey has officially announced that he will contest the seat as an independent candidate in the November polls.

At a press conference in Accra (Osu Alata) Wednesday morning to announce his decision to his supporters – the NPP aspirant claimed that he is not a favorite of his party’s big wigs so therefore must leave to serve the masses who are yelling for him to represent them in parliament.
