3 SA Ex-Cops: How Does Nana Addo Become A Subject? - Atik Mohammed

General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC) Atik Mohammed has urged the New Patriotic Party and the entire nation to allow the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to investigate the three South African nationals.

Speaking on Kokrokoo on Peace FM, Atik Mohammed said there should not be any political or public interference in the operations of the security apparatus.

His concern over the arrest of the three South African nationals who were lodging at the El-Capitano Hotel and taking some NPP members in various security drills is for the BNI to ascertain whether their actions breach national security.

According to him, it is however premature for any person to tag the three South Africans as "terrorists" or "mercenaries" because there is no concrete evidence to incriminate them.

“How can three people destabilize this country? How can it happen in today’s Ghana?” he questioned.

Nonetheless, Atik Mohammed cast doubts about the reasons given by the NPP to warrant their stay in the country.

“What is the tendency of that training towards our security? Can it offend or hurt our security? If the answer to all of these is that it’s not injurious to our security and it doesn’t offend any law, I think it’s not a big deal.”

He also advised critics to dissociate the NPP Flagbearer Nana Addo from the issue because Nana Addo's character has nothing to do with the arrest of the South Africans.

“How does Nana come into all this? How does Nana become the subject; to say he brought them because he is violent? Let us allow the security agencies to do their work," he stated.
