I Salute ISD Workers . . . They Have Shown Determination & Courage - Karbo

Deputy Director of Communications of the NPP, Anthony Karbo has applauded the heroic move by the workers of the Information Services Department (ISD) resulting in the dismissal of their Acting Director Francis Kwarteng Arthur. Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Anthony Karbo commended the workers for disallowing themselves to become a public ridicule. In the wake of what has been known as the 'brochure gate' where the official brochure for the 59th Independence celebrations of Ghana was infested with typographical errors and grammatical errors, the Acting Director of the Information Services Department quickly issued a letter apologizing for the government blunder. He admitted that the fault emanated from his outfit and so apologized on their behalf but his kind gesture didn't sink down well with the ISD workers who caused a massive stir at the workplace to register their displeasure. A number of them called for the dismissal of their boss and a statement released from the Ministry of Communications indicated that the ISD Boss has been relieved of his duties. According to Anthony Karbo, the ISD "man committed a criminal offence by even forging the letterhead of the Information Services Department to issue an apology on errors which also came with errors," apparently positing that the dismissal should have come with some sanctions as well. He also admitted that he forged the letterhead of the ISD in issuing the apology to Ghanaians over the brochure brouhaha. Anthony Karbo eulogized the workers, stressing "they have shown courage. They have shown determination. They have proved that they won’t sit down and watch political appointees or partisan appointments into these State institutions to run and run down the department and the integrity of the department because the department has qualified personnel. They feel that this was a major onslaught on their integrity. We must salute those for the bold decision and bold step they took.” He also lambasted the Mahama government for overlooking their mistakes and further questioned the mandate of the government Communication Bureau. “Which government official proofread these mistakes and gave the go ahead for it to be printed? How did it cost the tax payer? How much did it cost the tax payer? These are important issues. In what way did the company win the contract? What was the procurement process, and what was the bidding?” he quizzed.
