Error-ridden Brochure "Regrettable" . . . But Ghanaians Must Focus On Ghana@59 Positives

Edward Bawa, Spokesperson for the Energy Ministry has expressed worry over the brochure gaffe that has taken the centre stage of discussions following Ghana's 59th Independence celebrations.

According to him, it appears the socially awkward act that occurred during the function has gradually taken the shine out of the celebrations.

He believed there was a beautiful display of Ghana's rich culture on Sunday coupled with other successful events that should not be downplayed because the event brochure was rife with lots of typographical and grammatical errors.

Was it something that we could have avoided as a country? Yes. Did we avoid it? No. Have we learned lessons? Yes. Have there been actions taken to ensure that it doesn’t repeat itself in future? Yes. There have been actions. People have paid prices for that…I admit that the problem that we encountered in terms of the brochure, it’s avoidable. It’s regrettable and that Ghanaians don’t deserve that thing. ”

Bawa, who is aspiring to be the Member of Parliament for Bongo on the ticket of the NDC, advised Ghanaians on Peace FM's Kokrokoo to concentrate on the positives of Ghana at 59 anniversary and stop painting a gloomy picture about the event.

We should as a country look at the positives; the rich culture that was displayed…At the end of the day, it is also important to establish that irrespective of that particular thing, the occasion itself was fantastic. The occasion itself displayed the rich culture of Ghana. The occasion itself brought political parties from all angles to show that as a country, we are united,” he added.
