Ghanaians Must Not Settle Down For Crumbs From The Mahama Gov't - Kwamena Duncan

Kwamena Duncan has jabbed President John Dramani Mahama over his State of the Nation Address to Ghanaians last Thursday at Parliament.

During the President's State of the Nation (SoNA) address, he reiterated his government's commitment to revamping the economy and provided evidence to reveal achievements under his administration.

He centered on sectors such as education, energy, water, housing and transport among others.

Though some political functionaries have lauded President John Mahama for what they refer to as insightful speech given on the floor of Parliament, the Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rubbished the President's evidence regarding the developments undertaken by his government.

According to him, the President was voted into power to serve the interest of Ghanaians and so it was needless for him to have made his usual rhetoric.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, he noted that the President's SoNA didn't satisfy any need of the Ghanaian populace.

“You’re working for Ghanaians. Ghanaians are the beneficiaries. You’re not working for outsiders who cannot see what is going on. The people understand what’s happening. The people are living it. What is the need to reiterate that what you’re doing is in the interest of the people? So, who are you presenting the evidence to?

“You’re showing to the 275 Members of Parliament. They live amongst the people…So, what is that evidence for? Who’s that evidence meant for?”

He urged Ghanaians not to be deceived by the Mahama-led government, stressing "we must not settle for the minimal. We must not settle for the crumbs which fall from the top of the table unto the floor.”
