Kweku Baako has lambasted the government for what he believes is an unfair treatment of the three deported South African nationals.
The three men - South African Ex-Police Officers - were in the country to take 15 members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) through various security drills including weapon handling.
Following their entry into the country, the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) arrested them and arraigned them before an Accra Circuit Court.
The three, Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (rtd), 54; Warrant Officer Denver Dwayhe, 33, and Captain Mlungiseli Jokani, 45, were charged with conspiracy to commit crime and unlawful training.
Commenting on the issue on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, the Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Kweku Baako told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the government should tell their story to the Marines.
According to him, it is deceit on the part of the government to file such "provisional charges" against the Ex-South African Capos.
“Tell that to the marines. Let the person who says that go and tell his story to the marines. They have no serious charges to fit the kind of climate they have created except what they sent to court. That’s what they had...People in government, themselves, were part of this reinforcement of this negative thing which is not even true.”
Mr. Baako further wondered why the men were treated as outlaws when they were cleared to enter the nation together with the weapons they brought to train the 15 NPP faithfuls.
He asked why the BNI arrested just the three men and set the 15 trainees free.
“Where are the 15 people who were being trained? So, those people who have been trained to whatever extent, we’ve set them free. Aren’t they a threat to us?”
Kweku Baako advised the government to remain focused and stop the distortion of issues.
“Mercenaries don’t come in the way these people came. Mercenaries don’t operate in a zone that we, Ghana, find ourselves today. Mercenaries don’t train people at that open place the way it was being done. That’s not the modus operandi of terrorists and mercenaries…Let’s be focus. As soon as we introduce these distortions and misrepresentations into the issue, we’re killing our own collective vigilance. I’m telling you. One sure way of killing our national commitment is to play the game this way," he remarked. |
