Acting General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu has vehemently defended the entry of the 3 retired South African Police Officers into the country.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, John Boadu noted that the South African nationals didn't breach any security rules in the country.
According to him, the South Africans were taken through all protocols and their training kit was checked at the port before they made a headway to EL-Capitano Hotel to train the NPP members in various security drills, including weapon handling, VIP protection techniques, rapid response maneuvers and unarmed combat.
John Boadu wondered why the 3 men would be arrested for wielding non-offensive weapons to train the NPP people.
The Acting General Secretary of the NPP noted that the three availed themselves to immigration regulations and security checks.
“We hear people making spurious allegations that these men have in their possession all sorts of dangerous weapons simply because they are to train our boys in weapon handlings and other military drills. This is not true; they declared all their equipment to be used for their operations here in Ghana to the relevant authorities. They came through the port and paid duties for their apparatus which include PT pants, skipping ropes, T shirts, golf shirts, socks, cargo pants, belts, sand bags, batons, training knives, cons, Trojan exercise wheel, paint ball guns, which has the inscription not lethal clearly stated on it. These equipment certainly are not dangerous," he said onKokrookoo on Wednesday.
He further debunked claims that the three men were secretly training NPP people to forment trouble in the country expounding that amidst security concerns in the country, it was only prudent for the party's flagbearer Nana Addo and Running Mate Dr. Bawumia as well as the party executives to be safely guarded.
This is why the party invited the 3 men security experts from South Africa to train the NPP people so that they can protect the party's leadership and avert any security threats against them. |
