The
2012 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo
Dankwa Akufo Addo has reiterated his promise to the nation, assuring
Ghanaians that his party will not relent in providing them with free
education when they come to power.
He urged Ghanaians to repose confidence in the NPP as the party will ensure its “free education” policy is fully implemented.
He said this during his thanksgiving service today at the Church of Pentecost, Dr Wyatt Assembly in Accra.
Delivering
his thanksgiving speech, Nana Addo alluded to the NPP's election
petition, it filed at the Supreme Court, saying though the rank and file
of the party did not agree with the court verdict; they however
accepted it to ensure peace prevails.
According to him, the
petitioners in consultation with the National Executive Council of the
party decided not to seek a review in the interest of the nation.
Touting
the NPP leaders as "learned folks", Nana Addo stressed that the party
does not harbor any corruptible practices but put the interest of the
nation first before their political ambitions.
“We don’t want any
mayhem in the nation…We do not agree with the Judges but if they have
said it, we accept. We won’t pursue it again. And when you send your
case to the court, you accept it as a “courageous man”…So, we’ve let it
go; we won’t seek a review,” he stated, adding that “before NPP and NDC
was birthed, Ghana was already in place. So, in all that we do; we
should remember that Ghana’s progress, peace and unity must take
precedence over everything.”
He also advised the Christian community to “tell the truth at all times and also eschew corruption.”
Also,
during the function, the General Secretary of the Ghana Pentecostal and
Charismatic Churches, Apostle S.Y Antwi commended Nana Addo for
accepting the court ruling and further advised the party to unite in
order to help build the nation.
He urged Nana Addo and the
party’s entire leadership to note that though their victory may tarry,
they should wait on God because “it shall surely come.”
Present
at the service were the 2012 Vice Presidential candidate of the party,
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia, General Secretary of
the party, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, Former Foreign Affairs Minister,
Hackman Owusu Agyemang, Yaw Osafo Marfo, Former Finance Minister and
