How Kenu Kept His Boss In The Dark

Do you smell a rat in Daniel Kenu's tale involving the brother of Ghana's skipper Asamoah Gyan, Baffour Gyan?

There have indeed been several reasons cited by Daniel Kenu who happens to be a victim of physical assault by the Asamoah Gyan's brother.

Mr. Kenu, the Ashanti Regional editor for the Daily Graphic, discontinued the criminal case in court for reasons being that his mother had taken ill and before the demise of his Uncle, the latter had advised him to drop the case.

As to the merit of the reasons cited by Mr. Kenu, Ghanaians are yet to come to terms with why he would discontinue the issue. Some Ghanaians have branded him a coward while others think he has betrayed the journalism fraternity.

But what really preceded his action is equally the worry of the Head of Corporate Communications of Graphic Communications Group.

Speaking in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi, the Head of Corporate Communications of Graphic, Albert Sam disclosed the event that preceded the decision by their reporter, Daniel Kenu.

He narrated that upon hearing that their reporter had been assaulted by Baffour Gyan and his cohort, the company swore to see the matter to its conclusion.

The management of Graphic decided to let justice take its course as they deemed the Baffour Gyan's behaviour offensive but were stabbed in the back by the plaintiff, Daniel kenu.

According to Mr. Albert Sam, the Managing Director (MD), Mr. Kenneth Ashigbey arrived in Kumasi on the eve of the court case to ensure that the reporter gets justice.

Upon reaching Kumasi in the Ashanti Region where the case involving the Graphic Reporter and Baffour Gyan was to be heard by the law court, the former is said to have failed to inform his boss about his intention to discontinue the issue.

Therefore the Managing Director, bent on pursuing the case to the end, went to the law court.

Mr. Kenu, though seated side by side with his Boss, had still not hinted him that he would not pursue the Gyan Brothers any longer.

Speaking to Peace FM, Mr. Albert Sam was alarmed by the sudden silence of Daniel Kenu because in his view, the reporter should have informed the MD of his decision before allowing him to waste his time in court.

It was when court was in session that Daniel Kenu let the cat out of the bag; leaving Mr. Kenneth Ashigbey, utterly astounded.

“He was so surprised. If for nothing, he expected him (Daniel Kenu) to hint him of his motive…So; he was completely oblivious of it.”

To Albert Sam, Daniel Kenu's decision comes as a "bombshell" to the management of Graphic Communications Group Limited though the management is yet to assess the merit of such decision.
