Power Minister Must Start Packing Out...His Exit Is Unavoidable; He Can't Redeem Himself - Atik

Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor
Atik Mohammed, aspiring General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), has asked the Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor to brace himself for his exit from office.

Atik Mohammed believed the Power Minister cannot fix the energy crises in the country by the end of the year.

And so, if he (Dr. Kwabena Donkor) cannot resolve the power shortages for which he was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama to do; then he should resign.

Upon his appointment into office, Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor promised Ghanaians that he would ensure regular electricity supply by the end of the year.

Without mincing words, he further stressed that “Come January 1, 2016, if there is still load shedding, I will not sit at this ministry as sector minister. I would have failed, and I will sack myself even before anyone sacks me. We will not let this country down."

Contributing to Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Atik Mohammed wants the sector Minister to honour his promise to Ghanaians.

It was to be expected. I could feel some frustration in his tone because he’s done everything but there is no money. But this is money issue. Also, the President without recourse to him continue to make promises on daily basis…He is promising on his behalf.”

He also blamed the perennial power cuts on the Mahama administration, saying “the President has promised Ghanaians to the extent that he’s now promising on behalf of his Ministers. It tells you how ugly the situation has gotten."

Atik advised Dr. Donkor to "start making plans for your exit because your exit is unavoidable. As for me, the promise of ‘dum sor’ – to wit power cuts – is not realistic. Ghanaians should expect Dr. Donkor to resign. He can’t redeem himself.
