Two Legon students die in accident

Two female students of the University of Ghana are reported dead when a garbage truck smashed their vehicle near the university.

The truck is said to have run into a taxi cab the students boarded, killing them on the spot.

The taxi driver sustained serious degrees of injury and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

The two students whose names were given as Ms Debbie Akosua Benaya and Ms Lordina Fobih are all level 100 students of the University of Ghana.

An witness narrating the accident said the accident occurred at dawn.

He explained that the traffic light turned amber therefore causing the two vehicles to run into each other.

He said “The taxi was moving from Okponglo to the University of Ghana and the Garbage truck was moving from Madina to Accra so at the traffic light both did not stop.”

Sources say Ms Lordina Fobih who was involved in the accident is the daughter of former Minister for Lands, Mines and Forestry,  Prof Dominic Fobih, under President Kufour’s regime.
