Lapaz residents block roads after a car crash

Residents at lapaz have blocked the roads at the Lapaz Central Mosque in protest against the reckless incidents that have recently claimed several lives on the N1 highway.

An eight-year old girl was knocked down to death by a BMW saloon car  on the George Walker Bush highway today and two other children are reported to have died in a similar event on Sunday.

These two incidents have called for the massive commotion by the residents in the area to mount roadblocks.

They have called on state authorities to ensure the construction of an overhead at the area for commuters or face the wrath of the in-dwellers.

Police control at the accident scene is reported to be failing due to the blockage and the commotion caused by a horde of youth in the area.

The police are said to be finding it difficult to restore calm in the area.

The youth say the road has claimed numerous lives and therefore call on the authorities to put the right things in place in order to make it safe for commuters and pedestrians.
