NPP
devout member, Kwabena Sarpong has called on the former Health Minister
and Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo to resign from his post over
his recent criticisms of the incumbent government.
According to him, in order for Hon. Alban Bagbin to maintain his credibility, it behooves him to quit as a matter of principle.
Contributing
to a panel discussion programme on Oman FM, he highlighted that Hon.
Bagbin cannot continue to be in the Mahama government after making
critical arguments about his (President John Mahama’s) administration.
To
him, “the normal and logical thing for him to do is to tender in his
resignation to government. Put it down to prove that you’re principled
because you cannot say these things about a government that you’re a
member of.”
Hon. Bagbin courted controversy this week after
claiming he was not gaining access to the Presidency, in his bid to
offer private counsel to President Mahama about the festering corruption
in the nation coupled with several challenges confronting Ghanaians
which he might be oblivious of.
Since his open outcry regarding
the administration of President Mahama, some government officials have
launched a blistering verbal attack on him.
Presidential staffer,
Stan Dogbe described him as a "big liar" and Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a
Deputy Information Minister also referred to him as a "persona non
grata" in the Mahama government.
Adding his voice to the
brouhaha, Mr. Kwabena Sarpong insisted that since he (Hon. Bagbin) has
the right to criticize the gov’t, he also has the “right to leave…The
best thing for him to get more credibility is for him to resign. He
should do just like Martin Amidu did. Martin Amidu handed his
resignation to Mills…” |
