George Nettey has hit back at members of the opposition NPP who have
imputed ill regarding the attire and conduct of President John Mahama
and his Vice, Kwesi Amissah Arthur, prior to the Supreme Court’s verdict
on the Presidential election petition some months ago.
The Government’s Communication Team Member impliedly stated on Peace FM's flagship programme "Kokrokoo",
that the 2012 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana
Akufo-Addo, was in a festive mood when he joined mourners during the one
year anniversary of the passing away of the late Vice President in the
erstwhile Kufour government, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
He wondered why
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo wore a white attire to the funeral grounds
of the late Vice President if he were not in a "celebratory mood."
“This
whole week, we’re marking one year of our former Vice President, His
Excellency, Alhaji Aliu Mahama. During his funeral rites, Akufo- Addo
wore white. I would also…take that he was also in celebratory mood.”
Samuel
George was responding to assertions by the Central Regional Secretary
for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwamena Duncan, that President Mahama
and his Vice wore white apparels on the day the Supreme Court delivered
its final ruling on the election petition case because, they might have
been "privy" to the verdict.
Dismissing suggestions that his
analogy and logic were warped, the NDC activist consented to retract his
assertions if only such critics "believe that President Mahama won
white because he knew he had a good case and would win the case.” |
