President of Benin Yayi Boni of interfering with the internal affairs of Ghana.

AU Chair, Yayi Boni, is unnecessarily interfering in our internal affairs – NPP

The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has blatantly accused Chairman of the African Union and

Commucations Director of the party, Nana Akomea, expressed in an interview with Joy FM that the comments by the AU Chairman are not a true reflection of the political situation in Ghana.

According to him, “If he [Boni] said words to that effect, then I agree with the position of Mr Ofori Atta that he is unnecessarily interfering in the internal affairs of the country.

“There is a dispute over the elections; petition has been filed before the Supreme Court of Ghana. So if you want to talk about the political atmosphere, you should be fair to that reality.”

Yayi Boni commending President John Dramani Mahama during his inaugural ceremony into office on Monday, January 7, emphasized that the 2012 elections were free and fair as acclaimed by local and international election observers.

He advised Ghanaians to ensure peace in the country.

But the NPP says the AU Chair’s remarks stem out of prejudice.

Nana Akomea asserted that the speech delivered by President Yayi Boni should be scrutinized to ascertain the veracity of his comments; whether it truly represents the real state of the economy.
