PNC Presidential candidate faces threats of denunciation

Some leading members of the People’s National Convention (PNC) have expressed their disappointment in their flagbearer, Hassan Ayariga, for misconducting himself in the second Institute of Economic Affairs Presidential debate.

According to the Policy Analyst of the party, Atik Mohammed, Mr. Ayariga’s misconduct cannot be countenanced by the party functionaries.

“Our party can no longer tolerate Hassan Ayariga’s misconduct…” he insisted.

He disclosed that the party has decided to denounce him ahead of the impending elections on December 7.

Atik Mohammed explained that their Presidential candidate has been acting as a surrogate of the ruling National Democratic Congress, hence doing the bidding of the government.

He indicated that Mr. Ayariga’s position on the IEA platform was in contravention to the ideals and beliefs of the People's National Convention.

According to him, Hassan Ayariga wants to bring the image of party into disrepute and therefore an immediate action will be taken to salvage the party.

“Every Ghanaian sees him not to be representative of himself and of the party. He is seen as doing the bidding of the NDC which is dangerous to our image; Ayariga has sworn to destroy the PNC and I can assure him that we will not sit unconcerned. We will make sure we disown him as our flag bearer before he does any further damage.”

“We will, as a way of telling him and whoever is paying him, that the PNC cannot be sold and that that collateral damage will come to an end and we will be able to salvage our party, reconstruct it and make sure it gets stronger and more formidable in the coming years.”, he noted.

Hassan Ayariga has been heavily criticized for his performance at the IEA Presidential debate which was held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra.

The second IEA debate on Wednesday saw in attendance Presidential candidates from the National Democratic Congress, New Patriotic Party, Convention People’s Party, People’s National Convention and other dignitaries.

The PNC Presidential candidate has been slammed by his party members and critics for what they describe as an act of mockery exibited by him on the floor of the Institute of Economic Affairs Presidential encounter.

He has been accused of conniving with the National Democratic Congress, hence calling for his sanction.

Hassan Ayariga has also been under harsh criticisms for his attacks on the NPP Presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo, during the IEA debate yesterday.

“Mr. Hassan Ayariga’s incessant attacks on the NPP Presidential candidate on the IEA Presidential debate platform justified our suspicion that he was doing the NDC’s bid.” Atik Mohammed highlighted.
