President Mahama made this remark during his campaign tour at the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region where he promised to continue the Better Ghana Agenda started by the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
Today marks the birthday of President John Mahama and he turns 54 years. In an address to the students in the University of Cape Coast, the President dedicated his birthday to Ghanaians and advised that the elections come December must be viod of violence.
“Exactly today I was born in the small town of Damongo and I thank God for how far he has brought me. I believe that he has guided my steps this far and I believe that he will guide my steps going forward.”
“I want to dedicate this birthday to all the people of Ghana and to the elections that we are about to have, it is my prayer that and hope that this elections will go peacefully and successfully and that Ghana would come out once again very proud.”
He expressed his gratitude to all Ghanaians for their support and prayers over his life.
In a related development, President John Mahama has downplayed the free S.H.S policy propounded by the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
According to President Mahama, an implementation of the policy now will have a negative toll on the nation’s education system.
In his speech, President Mahama made reference to certain countries such as Botswana and Kenya where their secondary education system nearly collapsed as a result of free education.
He explained that but for the introduction of a fee paying system which was integrated in the education system of these countries, their educational pillars would have been ruined.
