Two people have been arrested in connection with
the armed robbery that took place at the residence of the Chairman of the
Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Hon. Albert Kan Dapaah.
The two suspects besieged the house of Hon. Kan
Dapaah, at Sahara near Dansoman.
27-year old Aaron Apau and Gator Dzosu, 28, were
arrested by the Police after thorough investigations.
Addressing the media in Accra on Tuesday, the
Accra Regional Police Commander, COP Patrick Eden Timbilla confirmed the arrest
of the suspects.
He explained that the police swooped down on Gabriel
Donkor, the financier and supplier of ammunition to armed robbers including the
gang that assailed Mr. Kan Dapaah on September 25, 2012 at his residence in
Sahara, near Dansoman.
According to COP Patrick Timbilla, the arrest of
Gabriel Donkor led to the arrest of the two suspects.
“The arrest of suspect Gabriel Donkor, aged 23,
led to the arrest of 27-year-old Aaron Apau… and Gator Dzosu, 28,” COP Timbilla
said.
The suspects admitted attacking the Mr. Kan
Dapaah, who is also a Member of Parliament
for Afigya Sekyere West, and also mentioned Atukwei
Clottey and Emmanuel Tetteh as their
accomplices.
The four persons at gun point entered the
residence, and bolted away with a mini laptop, a Samsung galaxy mobile phone, a
pistol, jewellery, an amount of ¢500.00 and $1,000.
The robbery occurred at 11:41pm.
The robbers also shot the back left tyre of Mr. Dapaah’s
Toyota Land Cruiser Prado before bolting.
COP Timbilla disclosed that the suspects were beneficiaries of the Justice for all Programme which grant amnesty to reformed prisoners.

He added that the two suspects will soon be arraigned before court.
Meanwhile, the police have begun a search for the two accomplices who
are said to be on the run.
