Police in Accra have hinted they will invite the
Presidential candidate of the People's National Convention, Hassan Ayariga, for
interrogation following an allegation against him by Lawyer Egbert Faibille.
Lawyer Egbert Faibille accused Mr. Ayariga of threatening
his life after he alleged that Mr. Ayariga was in bed with the ruling National
Democratic Congress.
He lodged a complaint at the Adabraka Police
Station after some mob believed to be members of the People’s National
Convention besieged Citi FM on Saturday in reaction to some comments that
Lawyer Faibille made on the radio.
Reports say the angry mob wanted to pounce on
Lawyer Faibille but they were refused entry which resulted in a turbulent
tackle with the authorities of the station.
Lawyer Egbert Faibille on a political programme on
Citi FM described the PNC flagbearer as a sidekick to the governing party.
His comment was taken as a bitter pill by Mr.
Ayariga who called into the programme for a retraction of the offensive
comment.
According to Lawyer Egbert Faibille, Mr. Ayariga
threatened him when he refused to retract his comment and such reaction called
for the mob action.
He reported the incident to the Adabraka Police who
together with a reinforcement team from Accra Central Police brought the
situation under control.
Accra Regional Police PRO, DSP Freeman speaking on
the issue, disclosed that they have begun investigations into the incident and
would invite the PNC Presidential candidate and other key players in the
incident for interrogation.
