Dr Mensah Otabil Advises Electorates To Be Wary When Voting
General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Dr Mensah Otabil has admonished electorates to be tactful in their selection of Presidential and Parliamentary candidates come December 7.
He implored Ghanaians to be wary when voting for a leader in the elections, explaining that they entrust their sovereignty in the leaders they vote for.
He made the declaration on Sunday at the Christ Temple of the International Central Gospel Church.
Speaking under the theme “Your Vote”, Dr Otabil quoted from Acts 1:21-26 and Proverbs 1:10-15 to buttress his assertions.
He cited Matthias in the book of Acts was elected into a high office but could not make a name, in comparison; Paul accomplished a lot for the Kingdom of God though he was not elected to a position.
He further stressed though the will of God cannot be ruled out of Christianity, power is invested in Ghanaians to elect their leaders.
He explained; "In God's world, we live in a theocracy where it is the will of God that rules. But in this world, we live under democracy where man rules" Mensa Otabil added.
"Under democracy the sovereignty of the nation belongs to the people and it is represented in their votes.
No citizen can govern a state unless the people surrender their sovereignty to the person.”
He advised electorates not to trade their electoral power for party T-shirts, slogans and He therefore advised voters not to trade their sovereignty for slogans, symbols, T-shirts and commodities.
Dr Otabil however disclosed that his voting pattern has always been based on ideologies and proposals of parties and therefore advised the voters to also weigh the proposals laid before them before they cast their ballots for any candidate.
