2012
Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP),
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo says emphatically that he is very poised to
remain in frontline politics.
According to him, at a "young age
of 70", he is not ready to retire from Ghana's politics and therefore is
spiritually equipped to pursue his political ambitions.
Nana Addo expressed profound gratitude to Ghanaians for making a clarion call on him to remain active in the politics of Ghana.
“I
have been humbled by the loyalty, the confidence and trust the millions
of Ghanaians have given to me…The message from Ghanaians who are not
NPP members including supporters of other political parties…We have
heard your message. We know who you are and what you stand and we’re
ready to vote for in our numbers in 2016. In spite of all the
disappointments of the last few years, I cannot ignore these calls...
“I
am able to say that I feel spiritually, psychologically, emotionally,
intellectually, physically and patriotically strong to remain in the
hurly burly of frontline politics.”
Addressing NPP supporters and
some bigwigs in the party at his Nima residence, he further indicated
that his professional life as a politician does not delimit him, hence
no one knows whether he would ever quit politics to undertake other
courses or not.
To him, many people consider him "worthy to lead
this promising nation of ours even at a young age of 70". I chose “two
career where there’s no retirement age; Law and Politics," Nana Addo
added. |
