Member
of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Emmanuel
Kyeremateng Agyarko, has called on authorities of the University of
Ghana to reconsider their decision to restrict motorists from using the
access routes to the institution.
Hon. Agyarko appealed to the
University authorities to review their order for the sake of the school
children at the institution's basic school.
Authorities of the
University of Ghana, Legon, on Monday had a tussle with parents of the
wards at the University Basic School (UBS) over the restriction of
vehicular access to campus without the University's customized stickers
displayed on them.
The University cited security reasons as the basis for the new order.
But
the directive did not sink down well with the parents of the school
children who also blocked all access routes with their cars except the
entrance from the Okponglo intersection for motorists to use.
Speaking on "National Agenda" on Oman FM, Hon. Agyarko was of the view that the directive may have dire consequences for the school children.
He
wants the University to review the directive and implored them to take
the plight of the children into consideration because the authorities
are creating a "situation of inconvenience."
