What Is News About Nana Addo Deciding To Contest Again? - Ofosu Ampofo Quizzes

It is obvious the New Patriotic Party (NPP) party faithfuls and supporters can now heave a huge sigh of relief as they gear up for the 2016 general elections following Nana Akufo Addo's declaration to contest the flagbearership position for the third time.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, two-time Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, confirmed that he will contest the Presidential elections, come 2016.

According to him, he has decided to lead his party in the 2016 general elections when the party opens nomination.

Addressing party faithfuls and a section of the media who paraded his Nima residence in Accra, he indicated he is not ready to bow out of the competition at least for now.

"When the party opens nominations for presidential candidate sometime this year, I shall be ready to contest the NPP presidential primaries for the 2016 general elections.

"...I have been humbled by the loyalty, the confidence and trust the millions of Ghanaians have given to me…The message from Ghanaians who are not NPP members including supporters of other political parties…We have heard your message. We know who you are and what you stand and we’re ready to vote for in our numbers in 2016. In spite of all the disappointments of the last few years, I cannot ignore these calls.

“I am profoundly grateful that so many people consider me worthy to lead this promising nation of ours even at a young age of 70. Fortunately for me, I choose two career where there’s no retirement age; Law and Politics."

But Former Minister for Local Government, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has called on Ghanaians not to make a fuss about Nana Addo's comeback into the country's frontline politics.

Speaking on U TV's political programme "Adekye Nsroma", Hon. Ofosu Ampofo who was recently appointed Board Chairman of the Ghana Port and Harbours Authority (GPHA), told host Tweneboah Koduah that the return of Nana Addo is nothing new under the sun.

He believed the comeback will not be any novelty in Ghana's politics and therefore asked Ghanaians to stop making "noise" about it because in his candid view, “it’s not news whether Nana Addo decides to contest or not...I’m not sure it’s news.”
