“If
all efforts to use common sense to correct nonsense fails, you must use
equal nonsense to correct nonsense," John Boadu said in response to
criticisms from members of the ruling National Democratic Congress
regarding the declaration by Nana Akufo-Addo that he intends vying for
the flagbearership of the opposition party and possibly the Presidency
again.
The aspiring National Organizer of the New Patriotic
Party, John Boadu sought to ensure that discussion on the age of the
two-time NPP Presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is
well-addressed.
Nana Addo, on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, indicated that he will pick nomination forms to contest the flagbearership of the NPP.
But
since he declared his comeback into frontline politics, several
officials in government, have downplayed the relevance of Nana Addo’s
“young age at 70" and determination to lead the NPP to victory, come
2016.
Addressing the critics on OmanFM, John Boadu explained that
Nana Addo's quest to lead the NPP for the third time is legally
enshrined in the party's constitution. He further pointed out that if
age were anything to go by in the country's political terrain, then
people such as the NDC National Organizer and General Secretary, Yaw
Boateng Gyan and Johnson Asiedu Nketia would be the last persons to be
in the game of politics.
He argued that Mr. Boateng Gyan and
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly called General Mosquito are heading
towards their 70s, yet they have not thought of retiring from their
respective positions.
He therefore wondered why the two leaders,
especially the NDC General Secretary would take a swipe at Nana Addo
while they still remain in power.
